“This medium holds the opportunity for real human connection.”

8/17/1910: 102 years ago, this is what my 19 year old grandmother was up to

8/17/2006: Hmmm…wonder what happened to that poster AND that bag?

8/17/2007: The night before my friend’s wedding…I wanted to take a few pictures inside the chapel before all the festivities

8/17/2008: My Sweet Max
He passed away this March, you know, and I can just now look at pictures of him without feeling unbearably sad.

8/17/2009: Radiation machine at MGH

8/17/2012: Crabapples. A friend at work picked these while out walking at lunch. I had a ribbon laying around my office and there you have it. It could’ve been shot in better light, I could’ve laid out the paper so it was perfectly all on white. But. This picture kind of goes with what HelenJane said. Do what you want. Don’t overthink. Make it for you. I think it’s an interesting picture, without being perfect. Plus, I love the way it came out after playing around with PicMonkey!

Oh, and so…here is what inspired me:
I was reading Joy the Baker today and clicked on some links in her post…and I’m SO very glad I did! I completely and utterly identified with this post by Helen Jane, “Don’t quit your blog…”.
I miss that human connection! I’ve “met” so many interesting, kind and thoughtful folks through my blog. Some have fallen by the wayside, sadly, but others are still there (albeit on Facebook now instead of blogs). So I’m going to post this link, see if anyone else feels this way (I know some will, that’s just the nature of life).
Hope you all have a fantastic weekend. Dave and I are watching Ralphy, so we’ll have lots of adventures, I’m sure, including one down in Fairhaven at my friend Azzy’s house. She’s not met Dave yet, but she has met Ralphy and STILL invited us back down! Friendship, ocean, steamahs, lobstah & quahogs, here I come!

I’m still here, Janet! Just been lurking as I’ve dealt with a major upheaval in my own life. But I’m here, I’m keeping an eye on you — here and on FB.

Great photos Janet. Thanks for the links and yes, I’ve felt that way. I am glad that some people are getting back into blogging. I have missed a few of them and I should really start to post more often myself.

I think it’s all cyclical – there will always be newbies, vets and those stuck in between wondering whether to forge ahead or quit. I’ll never quit – I enjoy meeting new peeps and leaning on some old friends too.

Max had such a kissable nose!
This was a great post. Sometimes I feel like I’m alone on the dance floor.

Love those photos and love the link, and I totally agree about the way blogs have evolved. I miss the way it used to be.
Have a great weekend! xo

Oh, most definitely “the opportunity for real human connection.” Why else would we have fallen in love with Max, too, and cried when his life on earth ended?
I was one of those late-comers to blogging, four-and-a-half years ago. It was the Weekly Words Challenge that brought me into a community of friends that welcomed and encouraged newbies like me. It’s where I met you.
Oh, there are days when facebook and Pinterest take my focus away from blogs (reading and writing)… but I always return to the community where people are Real with one another.
Have a great weekend, Janet!♥

I hate when someone I like to read gives up blogging. I’m glad you’re still hanging in there.
I’m trying fb ‘cuz of a class I took, but it gets a little — ? — pushy. Blogging is an invitation into another person’s life — please have a seat and let me share.
fb is like a toddler with a drum LOOK LOOK LOOK AT THIS SEE WHAT I SEE DO WHAT I DO DONCHA WANT TO, WELL DONCHA?!!!
oy. I have 12 fb friends and one of them is a dog. And that cracks me up. He’s my second favorite after my kiddo who was my first fb friend.
I’ve read elsewhere that blogging is over. I hope not.
Thanks for the interesting links.

I missed blogging, and that’s why I decided up again. I’m really tired of FB lately. Hope you had a nice weekend with Azzy!

I like this timeline thing – interesting to back and see what you were doing on this date… whenever.
The blogging thing? I think it will come back again.
