Picnik…also bananas
I logged into Flickr today and was saddened to read that their photo editing companion, Picnik, is closing in April. Until that day, all their premium options are free, so I created a goodbye Picnik shot:

Goodbye, Picnik, we’ll miss you much!
On to more happier news…I am overjoyed to tell you all I have finally found a way to incorporate bananas into my diet. I KNOW bananas are good for you (in moderation, of course), I know they have potassium (which will help with the leg cramps (hah, I wrote ‘gramps’) I’ve been having lately), and I know they’re filling. The problem is and has been…I HATE the texture! BLECH! Since I do like bananas in banana bread, I knew when I saw this recipe I’d like it. Healthy…good fats…good protein. YAY!!!
So I whipped up a double batch this morning (optimist that I am; no, really, I just had a cup of almond milk to use up before it expired) and had some for breakfast, adding a teaspoon of peanut butter (Teddie) and a sprinkle of chia seeds. She’s right, is it like oatmeal, and delicious.
You can see the recipe here. Don’t be put off by the addition of egg whites. Really…this stuff is yummy!
See! Blog reading is good for your health

Bananas are my most hated food. They’re so good for you, such smart food and yet I cannot like them. Good on you for finding a way to force them to be good.

I can only eat bananas cooked in bread, otherwise, they sit in my belly like a stone. Something about the family digestives that we just can’t eat bananas raw.

I was just reading on the Google blog that they plan to start integrating more of the Picnik features into existing Google products (namely Picasa–which badly needed better editing tools anyway–and Google+), as well as continuing to create new features. So hopefully that just means Picnik is only disappearing in name but will continue to live on in another form. ::fingers crossed::

Ah I love my bananas especially when they are dripping in chocolate and caramel with ice cream in Banana’s Foster. When I hear about sites like Picnik closing down it makes me want to run and backup all the photos I have on Flickr…..gotta run and do that now
