My poor blog was feeling a bit ignored!
But heck, I’ve been busy!
Last weekend, I went to NYC and had a GREAT time! I specifically went to take some photos at the Hike for Our Heroes Benefit Event (NYC), hosted by Jenna. All proceeds went to benefit A Soldier’s Hike for Heroes; here’s a bit of info about that: Iraq War Veteran Troy Yocum is hiking 7,000 miles across America, with his wife Mareike, Emmie the SuperDog and Harley the Comedian by his side, banging his drum and sounding the call for $5 million to help military families in need. If you’d like to donate, please do so by clicking the link…you’ll see a “donate” button over there.
I had so much fun taking pictures at the event! Oh and if any of you Boston peeps are looking for something to do, he’ll be in Boston for the 4th of July (Animal Planet will be filming him here).
Here’s a shot of them:

After the cocktail pawty, Jen and I headed back to our hotel and half heartedly looked for some food, then just decided to crash LOL!
Saturday morning I was up bright and early, decided to walk to the nearest WW meeting, 2.5 miles away. Since all I had to eat the day before was a bowl of cereal w/milk, 6 hors d’œuvres and half a bottle of Yuengling, I ended up hailing a cab. He waited while I weighed in (down 2 pounds!) and took me back to the hotel. Jen and I then hopped in another cab and went to Amy Ruth’s in Harlem for an amazing breakfast! I had fried chicken and waffles, and grits. SO GOOD! Walked quite a while after that, through Harlem, to Central Park and finally caught another cab back to the hotel. We hung out there awhile, then headed to Les Halles for a late lunch, which was as equally amazing as Amy Ruth’s LOL!
Took lots of pictures of the ongoing construction at the site of the World Trade Center (hotel was just across the street).
Walked to Battery Park, saw Tommy Lee Jones (Will Smith was there, too) filming another Men in Black movie. Took pics of the Statue of Liberty on a foggy day and then back to the hotel once again, to check out and head home.
All in all, it was fun and Jen is a very nice traveling companion! Thanks to Jenna for inviting me, and I hope a few of the pictures come out ok!
Today I’m working a half day, then off to a cabin in the mountains with Dave to celebrate my birthday…ahhh, life.
