Day 22 – A picture that confuses you
This picture has always confused me! I took it in Salem, MA in October. Why does this guy have branches on him? Why is his face all scarred and marked with an X? Why is he staring at that girl like he’d like to eat her? Why did he pierce his nipp!e[s]? Why is he being led around by an apparent warlock or witch or costumed man in a cap and feathery hat? So many questions!

   Ahhh, because they tied witches to a tree and burned them! The X is that he was marked as a witch, the pierced nipples? Ah, for kicks?

   I REMEMBER this photo(maybe around the time I started visiting your blog)! There is a story in there, but I wouldn’t want to know it. This is a perfect fit for “a picture that confuses”.
