Random Tuesday Thoughts

hosted by The Un Mom!
- weather report says snow will start around midnight … and last until 7 pm with an accumulation of 12-16 inches…this enables me to say I like waking up to 12-16 inches…LOL!!
- got a pretty necklace for Christmas; it says “One person can make a difference…and that person is you”

- Dave is talking to his daughter tonight…she may be moving into his place, which means he may be moving in with me. We’ll see.
- I really enjoyed having a live Christmas tree this year!
- This year, I’m going to try to go the route of minimalist (ok, stop laughing). Michelle is going to borrow my love seat, which frees up one wall. And I need to devote 1 hour a week at the very least to going through the stuff in the closet.
- I also got, for Christmas, a book called: “As Always, Julia: The Letters of Julia Child and Avis DeVoto”. Each night I read a few letters before falling asleep…I’d love to dream of Julia cooking in Paris!
- My brother surprised Dave and me at Christmas with a calendar he made by taking pictures from my Facebook page…it’s pretty awesome and creative!
- I really, really want to rent the little house down the Cape again this summer…
- At work, we get no sick time or personal time; that is, we can take a day off if we’re sick but we have to make it up. I had 132 hours to make up, so each week I’m working one day without pay…and will do so until the end of March to make up this time.
- I’ve kind of been losing my blogging mojo…any ideas?
- Relationships are work, even the type that move along relatively easily. Dave and I were talking last night and he mentioned that even though it’s a positive change for us, being together, it’s still a big difference and requires adjustments since we were both by ourselves for so long. Not a bad thing…but a change, nonetheless
- I’m finally able to move comfortably and walk without a limp. It’s funny the things we take for granted, like walking, that get disrupted and forces one to pay attention to how complicated the process really is!
- I saw a few movies recently: The Fighter, True Grit, and Black Swan. I enjoyed the first two very much…The Fighter was filmed in the town I live in and I have to say, Christian Bale really nailed the local accent. It’s a tough one to do!
- Dave and I made an agreement on New Year’s Eve: He’ll quit smoking when I lose 30 pounds (he’d like to lose too because he’s afraid when he quits smoking he’ll gain). It’s incentive for me, since I hate his smoking! So last night, I made stuffed peppers with brown rice, Morningstar crumbles and fire roasted tomatoes with a small slice of Velveeta on top. I asked Dave how he liked it…he said…well, where’s the bacon? (that’s the way his Mom made it). I reminded him we agreed to eat healthier…and he sighed and nodded.

This made me chuckle, because a.) Jason and I have had that same talk about the adjustment thing and b.) we are also trying to eat healthier and I dragged him to the gym last night, which he whined about. (Just a bit.)

1. LOL!!
3. T moved in with me in the middle of December. It’s been an adjustment…but in an awesome way. =)
10. I let mine ebb & flow. When I am lacking for mojo, I read more. Eventually something inspires me & the blogging flows again.
13. I *loved* True Grit, from beginning to end. And you are so right about the Boston accent in movies. That Mel Gibson movie that was set in Boston (the name escapes me at the moment) was some of the worst Boston accent *ever*. Made me cringe every time he spoke.

Relationships are always work. Even sibling, cousins, girlfriends, etc.

After 23 years of marriage, we are still working constantly on our relationship. It’s worth it, even when he wakes me up to talk at 3:30am.
Now if only I could talk him into going to see “The King’s Speech”…
We are only supposed to get an inch or two from this latest “storm” so I’ll just say: I am jealous that you get to wake up to accumulating inches!

I have very little blog mojo either. Lots going on though…
Love that necklace. Love to read about you and Dave. The moving in thing is a big deal!
Good luck w/ having to work those extra hours. Yikes.
Have a fun snow storm. Maybe I’ll write a post if we have a snow day.

I’m trying to blog more too. New Routines are always hard. I’m struggling with finding a new routine to workout.

The peppers sound delicious. I love those meatless crumbles- have recently discovered them myself!

So did you not like Black Swan? I’m on the fence about seeing it, but leaning toward not.
That’s a real bummer about your sick leave, but all the news about Dave sounds great–in a very real life way.

I kinda wanted to say: like, like, like, unsure, like…..and so on and so on. Man, there is a lot going on over there!

Good luck with the minimalist thing – if you need me to borrow more great furniture to help with that I am glad to! Sounds like you and Dave have a good mojo – I love it!

It’s supposed to snow tonight in Washington too. I have never seen more than five inches. Someday I would love to experience snow ass deep.
I love the necklace.
Take a short break from blogging. Your mojo will come back. I promise.

Bunch of good stuff. Moving in is a big change, but since you have 2 bedrooms, you should still be able to each have some space of your own. Squeeee!
That’s a good bargain to make — the smoking/weight. It helps to have extra motivation.
xoxo to you both!

Your life is moving along so nicely and it seems in the direction that you want it to…I’m so happy that you have found someone as special as Dave…you deserve all the happiness and more…

looks like you got some great gifts for christmas…… i wouldn’t mind getting those myself:)
for losing weight i highly recommend sparkpeople.com to both you and dave. you can use it for tons of different things but for me their support system did the trick, even though i still have 2 or 3 extra lb
