11/1 – Goodbye to October

So sad to say goodbye to October, such a beautiful month! Today, on the way to work, I saw lit Christmas trees in the window of the local Walgreens…sigh…
Now on to Manic Monday:
It’s autumn, what do you like best? The smell of the air, the beautiful leaves, and strangely enough, making friends with my coats again, the ones that have languished, unused, as soon as it got warm enough to cast them aside.
Do you eat chestnuts, berries or anything else free to be found in nature? Give us a recipe. I eat both of those things and mushrooms, too! My favorite recipe is chestnut stuffing, which our family has had everything Thanksgiving since I was born, but I’m not allowed to share, sorry! How about this: take a handful of berries…eat them. Simple and easy recipe!
Do you have special autumn memories? Memories of trick or treating as a child…of dressing up as a teen & young adult and going to parties…building scarecrows out of Dad’s old clothes and leaves…the smell of leaves burning after being raked into piles (not allowed to do this anymore, a pity).

What sad looking pumpkins!
I love actually being cold after our hot & humid summers. I love putting on cozy sweatshirts, the smell of the changing leaves and bonfires (or just little campfires), and munching on homemade GORP (just craisins and almonds). Oh, and pumpkin ale!

Oh I was looking for chestnuts today in the grocery store. Not yet. I’m going crazy. Can’t wait! I did buy my stuffing base today though, and pumpkin too. I love everything there is about Autumn! Even the birthdays that make me another year older!

I used to LOVE dressing up… oddly I don’t so much anymore. I think I used up all my creativity.

I love that photo for a goodbye to October post. I have to say I am pretty excited to put up a tree in my new place this year – but – I figure I need to wait untill after Thanksgiving!

Hehehe, love the picture. Autumn is my favorite season for a lot of the reasons you mentioned. I don’t love that winter is coming, but the part where the winter clothes start making their way out again for the first time in a year is fun.

The pumpkins look sad to say goodbye too.
Pumpkin ale? What’s that?
I miss burning leaves too. I was visiting back home the other weekend and saw people still burn up there. I love that smell!
