Heroes

Cafe Writing is back (!!!) and the prompt is Heroes. Melissa says: “Pick at least three of the following words, and build a piece of writing around them [words, excuse, heroes, villains, hiss, truth, slick credulity].”

The words she had to speak were tough for her. The plain truth is that heroes are hard to come by, but someone (possibly her guardian angel) sent her one. She gave a hiss of pain and through her sobs, asked for his help. This particular hero didn’t waste any time, or give an excuse or three; he just did what had to be done and sang and whistled while he did it. She fell in love with him that day.
