ahhhh, Sunday!
I read on my cousin Erica’s Facebook post that Jordon’s Furniture in Avon has restored most of the original Jordan Marsh Enchanted Village! I remember my grandmother taking me to see this and I’m excited to be able to see it again! Since Ikea is in that area too, I think I’ll kill two birds with one stone after my visit to Mass General to get my stitches removed tomorrow. Then…most likely, it’ll be back to work, FINALLY!!!
One of my photos was on Flickr’s Most Interesting yesterday; it’s the 4th one down.
Last night, I invited some folks over for dinner and Apples to Apples, cause I absolutely could not stand being alone one more minute!
For appetizers (and munchies while playing Apples to Apples) I had 3 types of cheese (goat w/herbs, brie & Yorkshire Wesleydale with cranberries), 2 types of crackers (Special K Italian Tomato & Herb, which wasn’t so good with the Wesleydale and Blue Diamond Almond Nut-Thins, which were. The Special K crackers are a recent discovery for me; Megan brought some over when she stayed with me after the surgery and th ey are delish! We also had Boar’s Head smoked Italian sausage, some walnuts, dry roasted nuts, sourdough pretzels and my cousin’s Heavenly Jam, which was particularly good smeared on the pretzels!
I made a turkey breast, massaged with butter and sprinkled with chipotle all purpose seasoning (fast becoming my favorite spice mix); mashed potatoes with sour cream, butter, milk, S&P; maple glazed carrots; cornbread stuffing with onions and celery; turkey gravy; cranberry sauce (from the can…YUM!) and pumpkin pie for dessert.
Today, Wolf told me he was bored of being in the house, so we went off to Carlisle, MA, to Great Brook Park and had a nice long walk (and in his case, lots of sniffing). We even had to wade across a stream at one point! Here’s Wolf, being adorable:
How was your weekend?

You packed a lot into yours–I went to the most boring party ever yesterday, so I’m glad that is over with.
Exciting news on the stitches and returning to work.

Ohh what photo was it (I think the pages have changed or something since I don’t see your image at spot #4)?
Thanks for the yummies!

Congratulations on the well-deserved honor! (Can you post the photo here for us?)
Your mashed potatoes and my mashed potatoes are very similar. Do you use garlic salt with them? (YUM) …I forgot the stuffing and no one noticed but me. I think I’m the only one who likes it at my house…
If I bring some regular Special K crackers, can I come play A2A with you? Your party food is better than mine!
And is Wolf ever not adorable??

Sounds like a great day, and the food sounds delish! Good luck with the return to work. Slow and steady, ‘kay?
PS Your (really wonderful) photo is now on page 17 of that stream, not the one you linked to.

Congrats on being explored on flickr. Love your cheese descriptions. We played Apples to Apples on Friday night. Good fun. I think you had better snacks though.

Sounds like a great time was had by all! That park was my backyard growing up, I spent untold hours there in the days when kids left the house in the morning and didn’t com back until it was almost dark and not a soul worried.
I remember it being really beautiful and full of those long pine needles!

My weekend was pretty laid back. No stitches removed or anything. Some time with family and some time writing and that was about it.

Adorable shot of Wolf!
Mine wasn’t too bad, although I was on call on sat, which wasn’t too bad but was steady busy.

Your food & friends day sounds delectable; well done!

I think Apples to Apples is following me around! I had never heard of the game before and my wife played it with family over Thanksgiving while us guys were killing ourselves pretending we were younger than we were on the football field and now you mention it. Must be a sign!

what a delicious sounding meal (minus the turkey of course.
) so wintry and holiday-like.
this week i broke in my new-to-me kitchen with spiral’s vegan chili and cornbread muffins and today i made spiral’s vegan mac-n-cheese for chili mac with leftover cornbread muffins. i have potatoes waiting to be mashed and pumpkin muffins waiting to be baked.
it’s so good to be able to cook again! (took two weeks for our gas to get turned on).
