Friends!

1. Left for FL on a Saturday…visited Universal Studies for their Halloween Horror Night, which wasn’t very scary to me…well, the long, long lines, at least an hour’s wait for 5 minutes through a haunted house was scary. Blech … or belch, which is how I misspelled blech LOL.
2. Also went to The Magic Kingdom and Epcot, which, as always, was awesome! We ate at Bistro de Paris where Tara had escargot for the first time and loved it! The service was impeccable and Megan & Tara loved their meals. My dessert was fantastic…creme brulee, caramel rice pudding, and two others…just little tastes, just how I like it! And they had Ricard, which I diluted with ice water and sipped all through dinner. Mmmm…
3. Rode my favorite rides, Pirates of the Caribbean (what else) and the Haunted Mansion. Stayed with Megan & Tara’s uncle & aunt, and they were the most gracious hosts!!! We also went to Popeye’s, had a “hot now!” Krispy Kreme and pecan waffles at the Waffle House. And you know what? I only gained 2 pounds. Not that I plan on eating like that all the time…but man, that Popeye’s was YUM!
4. Got home, and left the next morning for Jamestown NY to visit friends.
5. Got lost on the way to meet Maureen in Albany…no worries, slight delay. Maureen and I got lost on one of the highways about an hour later cause we were too busy talking to pay attention to the exit signs…and her cigarette lighter doesn’t work, so no GPS, the kiss of death to me LOL.
6. Made it, finally, by about 8 PM and met Kim & Betsy at Forte, where I had a delicious dirty martini and sliced sesame crusted seared tuna on crisped wonton chips (wanton chips LMAO) with a wasabi cream sauce…omg!!!
7. Then I met with a medium named Kris; she started off by saying that she saw a hunter in my life. I rolled my eyes at that one. Hunter, pffffft, whatevs. She went on to say she saw animal heads on the wall. My eyes rolled so hard I was afraid they’d get stuck. Then she said, no, just one animal, a wild boar. That shut me up! Do you know my dog Wolf? He’s a shiba inu. Do you know what shiba inus are bred to hunt? Wild boar!!! Then she saw me on a train, in a dark tunnel, filled with twists and turns. Colon analogy anyone? She said the journey would be hard but I’d make it safely through. Phew! Then she asked if my Dad had passed recently. I said yes and she asked, was he a kind, gentle, quiet man? I said yup, sure was and she remarked how gentle his spirit was and how soft spoken he was, so soft she could barely hear him. Then she asked…did he lose his voice before he passed? Sure did! She said he was at peace and that he wanted to thank me for taking care of him. THEN she asked me if I was an artist, that she saw a canvas or a blank wall. I said nope, not an artist, but I do take a few pictures. She said a photographer is an artist and I needed to step over the wall I constructed and DO something with my photography. I said…well, I have a small low self esteem problem…and she LAUGHED and said no you don’t! You just don’t want to work at it. ROFLMAO! She said a strong female spirit was telling her to tell me to get off my butt and DO IT. I said, that MUST be Mom LOL! She also saw a cordless phone and asked if I worked at the phone company. I said no…and then she chuckled and said, oh it’s literal…you need to pick up the phone and CALL people. Don’t isolate yourself, don’t be afraid to ask for help, people WANT to help. I was utterly amazed by all she said. She also amazed Betsy and Maureen with the things she said…and Betsy was pretty damn skeptical of the whole thing. I have her card if anyone would like to contact her.
8. Halloween evening, we headed over to Kim’s parents’ house where 250 kids visited and we gave out 3 bags of candy! I even saw a Captain Jack Sparrow…but it was a chick LOL! And…a couple, friends of Kim’s and her parents, came to visit…and guess what? The guy half of the couple is a hunter and he has a wild boar on his wall. Seriously.
9. We visited Wegman’s 3 times in 24 hours. I <3 that store! On the first trip, I bought the ingredients to make a breakfast casserole, since Kim loved the one I made the last time I was there.
10. Went to Lilydale NY (google it…a very interesting place-HBO is filming a special there and Patricia Arquette from the tv show Medium is hosting it) to meet up with Kris and three of her friends. She significantly slowed the rain while the mediums read Kim, Maureen & I. I mean, she really did that, it was just totally amazing.
11. Swerved around all the deer wandering the roads on the way home.
12. Kim left at 10 to go on HER vacation down to FL to golf. Maureen and I hit the road shortly thereafter on our way back to my car in Albany.
13. And tomorrow? I’m having surgery…not looking forward to it, but it is what it is. Wish me luck, k? And the point of this story is friends: I’d really like to thank everyone who’s gone out of their way to cheer me, to make me smile, to be there for me, to send me little things, to just listen…I appreciate it more than you will ever know. Michelle will text those whose phone numbers I have, she’ll update Facebook and my blog for those who don’t. I go in to surgery at 3…they say it’ll take approximately 4-6 hours and I’ll spend 2 hours in post op…so I’m not sure when Michelle will find out anything. But she’ll let you know when she does!

I am thinking of you and praying for you.
You know that your father has his voice again because he spoke to me, and gave me more comfort than I could have ever imagined possible.
That strong female spirit telling you to DO IT? I think it is a collective one.
You are surrounded by the love and light of your dad, your mom, and the collective spirit of everyone else.
XO

Hugs to you across the miles…..

Janet, I hope your surgery goes well, I’ll be thinking of you at that time. Sounds like you had a great time leading up to it which, I hope, helped to keep you from dwelling on it too much.

You know of our support for you already in your health journey. And also our encouragement to you in your photography – if the psychic lady was right about anything she was right that you just need to put effort into your dreams to turn them into reality and stop using low self esteem as an excuse. Still keeping my eyes open for a freelance food photographer job to send your way ;0)
