love letters
The February prompt at Cafe Writing is: Love Letters; Melissa says: “Pick at least three of the following words, and build a piece of writing around them [greeting, hands, imagine, leave, letter, people, train, trespassing, washing]. The form is up to you: poem, scene, flash-fic, essay, or general blog entry. If you want to be really daring, write a love letter, instead.”
They shook hands as if in greeting although this time it was in farewell. He handed her the letter that sealed the end of things, the end of their life together, the end of all her dreams, and took his leave, boarding the train which would carry him far, far away. She was left to imagine the trespass upon her heart which would be the result of reading the information the letter contained. The people nearby looked at her as she began to cry and she walked slowly towards the bathroom, ready to begin the metaphorical washing of her hands, glad to be rid of him, but sad that it was over.

An IM between Heather and me:
me: i got a card in the mail recently for Dad, for his birthday, from his cousin
i forgot to tell her
and now … i have to send her a card.
does hallmark make a card for that?
heather: oppps!! ha… thanks for the card, i’m in the spirit world now but appreciated the sentiment.
me: lolol can i blog that?
heather: hahah you sure can
You know…sometimes you just have to laugh. I rearranged the shelf that held Mom’s ashes today–I added Dad’s ashes, a picture of them at Mom’s retirement dinner and a picture of Mom that Dad took in which she’s walking away from the camera holding hands with my brother and me.
Yesterday I went with Megan, her mom & sister to a cake tasting for her wedding cake. It was all delicious, but I think I had too much sugar and fat. My favorite was the lemon cake with a black cherry buttercream filling.
I made a yummy pumpkin polenta today…but my tummy isn’t feeling so well, so I didn’t do much other that taste it. It was damn good!
Now I’m settled in with a cup of Aveda Tea, reading a new book I picked up yesterday called Sway…it’s very weird, convoluted and quite interesting, and getting ready to watch the Oscars.
How was your weekend?

Love the cafe writing piece. Mine was from an excerpt of a personal journal entry. Yours is kind of opposite of mine. Mine met with a derogatory ‘anonymous’ comment from an army wife with a bad attitude!
Hope you’re feeling better. I’ve been down with a stomach flu – it is going around!

Cool cafe writing.
Hope your tummy feels better.
Weekend here was quiet. Watched Ghost Town & Religulous on DVD. Both were pretty good!

I do hope the tea settled your tummy. I love a nice cuppa warm tea in the evenings. Makes me so sleepy!
Yes, you definitely have to laugh most days.

That polenta looks delish. I had a nice afternoon out at book group, but am now listening to a whiny teenager. It’s distracting me from the Oscars!

I’m sorry about the card.
That polenta looks amazing – care to share (at least the recipe if not the actual food lol)?
