Y is for…

Header from samulli
Come play along at the new Thursday-13 Hq!
Maggie tagged me with the letter “Y”; here goes!
1. Yellow: A color that reminds me of eggs, of bright sunny days, of positivity.
2. Yes: Generally a word I like, both to give and to receive. I especially like when the person being said yes to is me and it’s a good thing…as in Can we go to Chinatown? Yes! Or, Did you bring me a case of beer? Yes, I did…speaking of which;
3. Yeungling: My favorite. Possibly because I can’t readily get it…absence makes the heart grow fonder and all that.
4. Yummy: A word I like to use to describe bleu cheese or sushi or potatoes or brussels sprouts or dirty martinis or any of the varied things I love to eat or drink.
5. Yakitori: Just another thing I miss about Japan! Yakitori is bite-sized marinated chicken pieces grilled on skewers…it can be chicken meat or skin or liver or cartilage…and it’s all delish!
6. Yaki imo man: Ahhh…I miss him and his delicious roasted yams!
7. Yawn: Cause it’s so fun to say that word and watch everyone yawn. You know you just did it!
8. Yearn: Not a bad word at all…it’s good to yearn for something. I yearn for many things; visiting Japan & Paris, a new home, to see my friends more often…among other things.
9. Yield: People in MA need to do this more often when they’re driving…massholes!
10. Yeast: Without which we wouldn’t have bread…or beer…or other things.
11. Yen: Which can have a couple meanings; “I have a yen for a Yuengling.” or “That rice cooker costs 5580 yen.”
12. Yesterday: As a Cancerian, I do a lot of looking back.
13. Yoga: Having fun with the yoga bits on the Wii Fit!

Nicely done! Y is kind of tough, but you even did 13. You know I know I love all of the Japan references, and I also like yellow. Such a happy color.

No. no. no, janet…you didn’t write one of those correctly…’yaaaaaaaakiiiiiiiiii iiiiiiiimooooooooooo’ is the correct way!!
Japanese version to the ice cream man!! He doesn’t come around very often at all, but when he does, we’re all running around the house, trying to find enough YEN to pay, as they have gotten pretty damn expensive….but OH, how delicious they are!!! Oohh…and now I have a yen for one……
debbie…keeping her ears open for the cart!!
Oh..and when you come to Japan…you know you have a futon and a space on the floor with your name on it, babe!!

Y is a funny letter (a e i o u and sometimes Y). I like the way it looks too. I think having living in Japan you had an advantage on this one.

You don’t like beer, do you?
January 29th, 2009 at 10:26 am
I have to admit I still don’t get what a Yeungling is, but it’s an interesting list anyway. Y really is quite a hard letter. Can we look forward to Z next week?

I really need to try the Yoga on Wii. We have it, but with Bean I don’t have much time. Yeah, bad excuse. I really need to get off my butt and do it. Maybe tonight when JR gets home. Oh & I’m coming home earlier b/c JR isn’t around starting Sunday am. He suggested I check into going home early.

I’d like to add Yeats, one of my favourite poets!
Thanks for visiting my TT. Yes, I met Patrick Stewart, he was very kind, a great man (not tall though). He smelled good; I got a hug! He’s my favourite Trek-character and a very talented actor!

I’ve been reading a lot of manga lately. Between that and your tt, I”m really wanting to go to Japan.

I’ve yet to every try the Wii, nonetheless the Wii Fit. I think it would be so much fun! I sort of want one but I want to try it out first before I buy.

“Yes,” said Harry stiffly.
“Yes, sir.”
“There’s no need to call me ’sir,’ Professor.”

Yow…..you always amaze me with your alphabet letters. Thanks for filling in the gap with the T13 hub too.

To answer your question on our blog and to keep with your T13 theme…Yipee! That’s what I have to say about Lost last night – more mind bending clues to roll around in my brain.
And by the way – based on your #9 above I hope that wasn’t you a cut off on my way to work this morning. I did feel bad but I thought you were going to move over as I “merged.”
My brother-in-law’s family always bring Yeungling with them from NY when they come to visit. Although I really don’t get the fascination – no great shakes to me.

I love the word Yearn.

I’m a brussel sprout lover too – stir fried with garlic, ginger and bacon is very nice.
I am awarding you with a “My blog is Fabulous Award”

Great job. I love the alphabet themed lists. “Y” is kind of a hard letter and you did an excellent job with it.
Happy TT!

January 29th, 2009 at 9:13 pm
you just increased my delight with the letter Y.
January 29th, 2009 at 9:15 pm
Hmm, you’re good. I don’t think I could have come up with that many “y” words, at least not enough that really meant anything to me.
January 29th, 2009 at 10:33 pm
Fun answers – I like the letter theme.
