Snapshot, December 2008
***Edited***
My friend, Megan, IM’d me today and said she had a surprise for me; it turned out to be a new URL for the thursday-13! When I’d read that the folks who ran the Thursday Thirteen were letting it go, I asked them if they were looking for someone to host if, but never heard back from them. So, as Megan said: We woke up and the Thursday Thirteen was gone. Will it be back? No one knows. But for now here’s a little spot on the web to bring us all together again. Feel free to join us, won’t you, in keeping this fun meme going!

Snapshot of Thirteen Things during the month of December; borrowed from Dawn:
1) photo of me: Not a one!
2) current candle scents: Balsam & Cedar by Yankee Candle got the house smelling like a Christmas tree. A very old perfume, Mitsouko, became my new favorite and I wore it almost every day. As everything seems to, it ended up smelling quite spicy on me!
3) what i am currently reading: “Best Food Writing 2008“; it’s the 9th edition of an annual food writing anthology and it’s very good!
4) newest music i added to my playlist: Finally, I have an answer to this one! My friend, Megan, gave me the latest Seal CD, which is a collection of soul favorites he covers. What a voice! I also added some John Lennon, Kinks, and Beatles songs to my iPod.
5) movies i saw: I saw Four Christmases (eh) and Bedtime Stories (great!).
6) something yummy i made this month: My annual batch of molasses cookies!
7) the last place i ate out: Sel de la Terre, where I had the most amazing mushroom crepe in all the world (it had a poached egg on top…swoon…what amazing comfort food)!
8.) something that made me cry: Dad passed away on New Year’s eve…just 15 minutes before the new year arrived.
9) something that made me laugh: Russell Brand in Bedtime Stories. I cannot WAIT to see him as Captain Jack Sparrow’s brother in the next POTC!
10) something i looked forward to this month: Christmas; my brother and I celebrated it with Dad in the hospital, where Dad got to open some presents (framed pictures my brother put together for him).
11) something i am thankful for: That Dad went peacefully, without pain and that a nurse was there with him at the time so he didn’t have to die alone.
12) something i want to remember about this month: That death can be a blessing.
13) a photo i took this month: I took 199 in December, here’s a few that made me smile:

1. so delicious!, 2. hot chocolate, 3. red berries in ice, 4. Christmas cookies, 5. Skelly and Sakura decorate Spot’s tree, 6. Skelly and Sakura hide among the boulders, 7. reflection, 8. Wolf loves this toy, 9. a kiss and a view, 10. ice before the barn, 11. two families, 12. grinning shiba, 13. minus 18.2 pounds since 9/3/08
Which one is your favorite, and why?

I like poppets with the munchkins. And poppets kissing. And Wolfie with the santa hat.
Great post, Janet.

Skelly & Sakura kissing in front of your Christmas card. My favorite because I was there when you picked it out.

Ice before the barn and Wolf and his toy are my two favorites…
That ring is really nice looking…

Thank you for playing along each month. =) I think I like the berries in ice and the ice before the barn photos. Probably because you bring a little bit of Winter to me. I always love your Autumn & Winter photos since I don’t get those seasons here in the way I am used to. =)

You have had quite the December. Definitely. I can’t really go picking favorite pictures when I love them all. I tried, but I couldn’t. Those are all awesome.

I love the review (the parts about your dad gave me goosebumps) and the montage of cheerful photos!
Check out this link to Alice Audrey’s blog. Not exactly a TT hub but she is keeping track and there are quite a few TTers still going strong. http://aliceaudrey.wordpress.com/2009/01/07/13-people-who-did-thursday-thirteen-last-week/#comment-13859
When I saw Harold and Maude I knew I wanted to be like Maude but I don’t think I quite pull it off (nowhere near like her!).

I love your pictures, they are always so interesting. I am sorry about the loss of your Father, you are in my thoughts.

Love your T13 header! That is just awesome.
#12 made me tear up. It’s so true.
I really can not pick a favorite of the photos but can narrow it down to any pic of Wolf. Why? Cause I wuv him!

I tried to leave a comment on the Thursday 13 website, but it doesn’t show me the letters to type so I can get past the submit button. This is the second blogger blog I’ve been on that won’t let me comment. It’s a different type of comment screen than I am used to, and it kicks me out.

I’m going with 18.2 lbs–in the hopes that your success inspires me.

favorite by a long shot is the smiling Wolf! Too too cute.
I tried doing a T13 last night and couldn’t even get my network to work at home. I finally gave up when I realized the UPS guy left my final Twilight book on the porch!
I’ll do one next week. I might steal this idea….an easy way to start.

First – Thanks for visiting my blog this morning. It’s great to see the TT tradition continuing.
Second – Wow, 199 photos in December! I didn’t even manage half that. I love the above pics of the iced berries and candy canes. So sorry to hear of your father’s passing. That’s never an easy time, but especially difficult when it comes over the holidays.

#12 is so true and it takes a lot of wisdom and sagacity to know it.
My favorite it the ice crystals on the glass. That’s weird because I hate to be cold!
January 10th, 2009 at 1:00 am
Janet it is so hard to pick. I love all your pictures!! I am fond of the iced berries, the ice before barn and wolf and his new toy…if I was ya know forced to pick faves. The ice ones cuz they are cool and something I don’t get to see and the wolf one because I love doggies.
