Manic Monday by Lisa
Got to be to work by nine
And if I had an air-o-plane
I still couldn’t make it on time
Just another Manic Monday…
Do you believe people are basically good? It’s much to early to answer that question with a modicum of truth.
If you could change the custom of shaking hands, what would you replace it with? Very complicated eye movements…to the right, then down, then to the right, to the left, then up and finally back to looking at the other person. C’mon, it’d be great and no touching, right? [for those of you without a sense of humor, I'm joking]
What is something that you enjoy that is a chore for most other people? Driving. I love to drive, it’s fun (except in heavy traffic, of course).
First off, I’d like to wish my cousin a VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! She’s off on a cruise right now to celebrate so I KNOW she’s having a good time!
Saturday I went to see the new Bond movie, Quantum of Solace. In physics, a quantum is, among other things, “the smallest amount of a physical quantity that can exist independently” and we all know that solace means “alleviation or comfort”; I take the smallest amount of comfort in hoping that the next Bond will be better. It’s not that this one was bad, lots of action, etc., but it just wasn’t nearly as good as the first one (with Daniel Craig).
That evening I played Apples to Apples with friends; these were my cards:
No raking yesterday, too windy, instead I went to work for a few hours (I have more than a week of time to make up, the owner of the company doesn’t believe in granting sick time; when we take time off due to sickness, we have to make it up).
How was your weekend?

Hmm. The owner of the company sounds like why #1 could be answered — no. Glad you’re feeling better.

No sick time for a salaried employee, are you kidding me? Is that even legal?? Even if it is, it sucks. Big time.

your boss is a rat bastard, and hand shakes and hugs? give me a fist bump, yeah!

I guessed you might say bowing to #2.
I only like to drive if I’m the only one in the car. Well, I like to drive Ian around, but other than that…forget it.
I love that picture– there’s something about the way that you all are standing that is so cool.
Apples to Apples- I’m so glad you reminded me of that– I want to bring it to Thanksgiving.
I already told you about me weekend except that I made some really good lasagna last night. It was perfect for a cold Sunday night and I think I should go heat some up for lunch now. Yum!

I heart apples to apples. its great with a big bunch of people…we play it at work on the holidays when its quiet and we all don’t have anything to do!

Your answer to #1 is mighty diplomatic of you. I can’t believe you had to work this weekend! Thanks for the heads up on Bond. I guess waiting for the dvd is in order…
Oh, and very complicated eye movements? Love it.

Had a great weekend. Thanks. I blogged about it this morning.
I have zero interest in the new Bond movie. I have been meaning to pick up Apples to apples. Thanks for the reminder. Sounds like you had a nice weekend.

November 17th, 2008 at 9:18 pm
Ah you work for one of those lovely companies too? I don’t get sick time or vaca time either. Sorry you have to make up so much time, esp if youre still feeling poorly.

The twitchy eye movements made me laugh.
I love Apples to Apples. Much better than Phase 10, (the other game my in-laws try to get us to play when we visit!)

That ‘no sick leave’ is just plain illegal here.
November 18th, 2008 at 12:58 am
Your boss is setting himself up for some seriously bad karma.

#2. Or maybe a series of dance moves! Like the cabbage patch followed by the copy machine and finished off with the sprinkler. Oh yeah…
