dark
Carmi hosts Thematic Photographic and the theme this week is “dark”.
The Somerville Theater is such a great place to see a movie or a band! Located in Davis Square, there’s lots of parking, and … they serve beer now! Woohoo! The decor inside is funky, lots of owls with red eyes lurking in corners, a fireplace (non-working) and old pictures on the walls, very cool. Wish I had noticed, back when I shot this picture, that Hot Tuna was playing there…I totally would’ve loved to have seen them!

Beer at the movies? So Euro!
Love the photo. (How many times do I have to keep typing that into your comments before you learn?)

Okay? Actually? I don’t really KNOW if beer at the movies is Euro.
I may or may not have been trying to sound all “in the know” and hip. But maybe I just sounded stupid, because maybe there is no such thing as beer at the movies in Europe.
But it seems like there could be, huh?

Thank-you for this photo Janet. As I wrote on my blog, my dad is French but my mother was American and her whole Irish Donahue family was from Sumerville, Mass.
Don’t know how old this theater is but my granfather probably went to it.

My favorite theater has a full bar.
This looks like a fun and funky place.

Beer at the movies is unusual it’s true- although Chunky’s chain up there where you live goes it one better & serves full meals during the movie (their deserts are the best part- the meals are nothing to write home about)

We have the Alamo Drafthouses here in Austin that serve food/drinks…and is where I saw Mongol last year during the SXSW festival. Very looooong but interesting take on the life of Genghis Khan. Part 1 of of 3, I think. I closed my eyes during the battle scenes and noticed very cool Tibetan monk-like chanting underneath all the screaming and clanging.
Nice picture, by the way;-)
