temporary and permanent
Weekly Words Challenge #45, hosted by Pickled Beef:
Permanent reminder of my latest obsession. Guess I’ll have to stop biting my nails now!
Also permanent:
My first really beautiful professional tat…I covered up a handmade heart I had on my forearm, but you know what? I miss that lil heart …btw, the band aid is NOT permanent! I had squamous cell cancer JUST below the tat and that bandaid is covering up the burn booboo.
It says Mischief Managed, and it’s a work in progress
Got this one in Japan…a permanent reminder of my time there. It’s the only one that hasn’t held up well…that’s kanji down on the bottom right and it says “dreams”
Did you know sea turtles are a symbol of femininity? Also of long life. I’ve always loved turtles!

I’m particularly fond of the “Mischief Managed” one! I keep toying with the idea of getting another, but it’s tough hiding them from your dad. Heh heh.. Oh wait…you say I’m in my late 30’s and still hiding stuff from my parents? Yup.

I love tats but I am so chicken. I have been telling myself that I want to put montana (my furbaby who died) on my body somewhere but I am sooooo very chicken…I have no idea why…….

I’m here from TorAa’s and I know you know my great blog friend Maribeth too
I love your permanent and also the flower – thanks for sharing!

I guess when I make notes on my hand in pen that is a ‘temporary’ tat, eh?

What a great interpretation! LOVE the shot of your leg in the air against the sky. It looks like it should be a poster in a dorm room.

One word: Sunscreen. That is all. xo
July 29th, 2008 at 10:41 am
Sunscreen is for use Today, but skin cancer has it’s roots in Yesterday. All of us are at risk if we ever had a sunburn…ever!
And squamous cell? I’m so glad they caught it in time. I hope that one is temporary! I had basal cell, it kept coming back. The last time, they dug deep and got it all out. (for good, I hope).
LOVE the first pic, especially the way the green leaves blend in with the blue background on the bottom of the photo. Gorgeous!
And I like your tats! Here’s the thing about the sea turtles. The babies have something like 1 in 1,000 chance of surviving when they first leave the nest and head to the ocean.
They have to survive all manner of sharks and other fish who would eat them. Assuming they grow up, they have to get lucky that they don’t swallow our plastic bags and monofilament lines, which can suffocate them.
So I’d say your sea turtle is a sign of a survivor, one whose been through what life throws at them and is still going strong.

Love the new tat!!!!

I love these all, especially the Japan-ish ones. My tattoo (I think I sent you a picture once?) is like a little souvenir of my time there, too, even if I got it back in the States. Awesomeness. Ready for another, someday.

Woman, you have got one helluva a sexy leg!
Mischief Managed….that fits you for some reason!
July 29th, 2008 at 11:50 am
I love all the tatoos you have
I had no idea about the seaturtle. Very interesting!!

You know I’m not a huge tattoo fan–but they’re growing on me. I love how feminine yours look.

I don’t know why, but I really love the leg up in the air shot.
The turtle tattoo is my favorite. Hoop and I might have a chance to swim with Log-Head turtles on our honeymoon. I can’t freakin’ wait!

How did you capture the colors in that flower? GORGEOUS!!
And you are seriously brave to permanently tatoo yourself. I’m not one for pain, so I’ll stick with freckles and sunscreen.

Love purple flowers, turtles, and lovely legs!
July 29th, 2008 at 4:04 pm
Your new one is kinda creepy, but I like it. I can’t wait to see Mischief Managed when it’s done.
I’m thinking of my next one!

That Morning Glory is fabulous! I like your tats, the shot with your leg in the air is well done.
July 29th, 2008 at 5:33 pm
I love all the tats. They are all very cool.
I also love the “why so serious?” I’ve been going around asking people that, along with “let’s put a smile on that face” for the last week.

Your temporary picture is just magnificent!
Your permanents are cool, too – me, I’m too much of a wuss to even THINK about a tattoo (mostly because I don’t trust my “temporary” thoughts about what would be a great idea for a tattoo) but I LOVE looking at them – and yours are way cool!
July 29th, 2008 at 6:15 pm
I love your tats! And the new one? Delicious! I may need one of my own!
July 29th, 2008 at 7:37 pm
Hey your header image is missing for me.Did you have that bit on your arm cut at again? Ouch!
BTW I love the color of your hair in the Japan palm tree tattoo!

Wicked cool photos, nicely done!
I enjoy hearing the stories around tattoos.
