The weekend

This week’s Saturday collaboration with Julie; the theme was “Happiness”. What makes me more happy than going to see Robert Plant in concert? The Cure makes Julie happy

Here’s a book that is perfect for me…but in a way my friend from high school, Pat, will understand perfectly…at least I think she will…they say memory is the first thing to go

Made some chicken coleslaw for Dad for lunch (if you click on the picture, it’ll take you to Flickr and the recipe…simple and good!)

I went to an ice cream social on Saturday hosted by the incomparable Erika; that woman knows how to throw a party! Thankfully I’ll be seeing Erika again Monday night as I left my Sigg water bottle behind.
Ended up at Megan’s that evening, where we played Wii’s Guitar Hero, with drums and vocals, too. Gah!
Started a new book Saturday night; Tweak, by Nic Sheff. Next up with be his Dad’s book, Beautiful Boy.
Today, I met Lauren for lunch and then we walked around a bit and I did some shopping, snagging the newest Apples to Apples expansion set and … a fire pit! I’ve been wanting one for a long time, and couldn’t it pass up!
Came home and prepared this:

Strawberries w/balsamic vinegar & a bit of sugar…it’s best left overnight, but I gave Dad some for dessert and he gave it the thumbs up. He also got some roast chicken and penne with asiago cheese & veggies.
A storm visited us:

LOTS of rain
How was your weekend?

Oooh, I want a Sigg! I like both Plant/Krauss and The Cure.
OK, which book is perfect for you? I think ‘The Strange Woman’ is perfect for me!

Busy busy.
Love The Cure. Sadly I don’t think Robert Plant will make it out here.
That sun roof’s still open.

We basically had the same weekend! We played Apples to Apples, had strawberries and a balsamic (brought back from the in-laws trip to Europe last summer) served over vanilla ice cream, and it had rained non-stop all weekend!
Happy Sunday!

Balsamic vinegar….really? Hhhmmm….I never tried that on strawberries, but now that I hear you say it, I bet I’d like it.

Tweak is so on my list–I loved Beautiful Boy. I can’t wait to go by Erika’s for more party details.
It was lots of reading time here–Barbara Kingsolver’s Animal, Vegetable, Mineral as well as lots of chauffering teenagers and watching water polo games.

We have a storm rolling in now too. I love the funky looking sky right before the rain blasts down!
I have never tried balsamic vinegar..will have to try that! Have you ever tried strawberries that you dip in sour cream, then dip into brown sugar? They are tremendous! Very different

You did have a great weekend! I’m pea green with envy that you went to the ice cream social.
I saw Robert Plant several years ago. I was struck by how old an aging throng of rockers look, particularly through my aging eyes.

Lovely pictures as usual. And my weekend was nice. Time spent with friends, time spent with Mister. Good, good, good. But too short.
