Round Robin Challenge: Landmarks
The topic is ““Landmarks” as suggested by Carly.
1. Bennett Public Library, dedicated in 1881. This was the library I went to often as a child…it was cool inside on a hot summer’s day and I could lose myself amongst the many books. Now, it’s available for rentals and also houses the town’s play group.
2. This apple has been on the side of this store for as long as I can remember. It’s owned by the Griggs Family, who also own (and work) the town’s last remaining farm. Best corn & apples!
3. First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church: This church has occupied this spot since 1663. It was renovated in 1844 to add the Greek Portico and rotated to it’s present position. In 1967, the church was destroyed by fire two days after Christmas. It was rebuilt and dedicated in 1970.
4. First Congregational Church: Built in 1889, this was the church I went to as a child…I was also married in the chapel there.
5. Faulkner Mills: a late nineteenth century textile mill, still in operation today
6. This is a shot of the shops in the center of town. When I was a kid, the store with the sign in it was owned by two elderly sisters and it was a candy store. It now houses a caterer, a florist, a place that sells gravestones and a place that does botox shots. *rolls eyes*
