Courtesy of Finn!
Thursday night I went for my first ever acupuncture appointment. It was interesting!
On my way in, as I walked past a bush in front of the house, a VERY large, very fluffy Himalayan cat jumped out at me and just started talking (or as we humans say, meowing). Meow, meow, meow, he said! I said, “What’s a beautiful cat like you doing on a VERY busy street?” He (or she) just meowed. And started to follow me. Which made me freak out because…did I say how busy the street was? It was BUSY!!!
—–end of timed writing—–
I cannot BELIEVE it took me all of three minutes to write the above, but oh well!. As I’m sure you want to hear what happened, I’ll continue it
Anyway, so I walked down a side street, my new friend by my side (literally), still talking a mile a minute. I found a woman doing some yard work and asked her if she knew who the cat belonged to. She said she didn’t but that she’d seen the cat around the neighborhood the last few days. Eek!
I’m thinking that Wolfie is going to be one very happy dog when he sees the live chew toy I’ve brought home for him, at this point.
Then the woman volunteers to take the cat inside and try to find the owners. As I was VERY nervous about cat’s chances of staying alive on that street, I thank her. She picks the cat up and puts him behind her fence and I walk back up to the very busy street to meet my acupuncturist.
Voila! End of story!

Finn’s the hostess with the mostest!
Today is my Dad’s 83rd birthday. Mortality is on his mind from time to time, as I’m sure it would be if I were in my 80s. He said he woke up this morning and thought…I’m 83 today! I asked him if he told anyone up at the Sneior Center where he spends part of his days and he said he had…so maybe someone will wish him a happy birthday there, too.
I gave him a sentimental card, a box of chocolates (Whitman Sampler, haven’t seen those in years) and some cash…kind of a large amount, which he was going to take to the Senior Center with him. I was like…whoa…don’t take that much with you!
Tonight, we’re going out for dinner, not sure where, then tomorrow, my brother and I are taking him out to a nice Italian place for lunch. Then I go to get my hair cut and colored, and I gotta say…it’s waaaaaaaaaay past time. Got a skunk stripe going on…hot, eh?
What else…not much else going on. Oh, when we go out tomorrow, we’re going to talk about where to vacation this year. For Dad’s birthday, my brother and I are renting a vacation house for a week, maybe at the Cape, possibly Maine or maybe even Chincoteague. Anyone got any good ideas? It has to be dog friendly, as we don’t (I don’t) want to leave them behind. Dad’ll be happy wherever, I think. My brother thinks he doesn’t want to leave the comfort of home.

My first time joining in; Finn’s the hostess with the mostest!
This weekend, my best friend from high school days, Pat, invited me up to her new house in the wilds of NH. We’ll be having a LOTR marathon (the extended versions, of course) and drinking lots of Yuengling (not available in MA, but I stockpile it…she’ll be surprised!) and lots of hobbity type food…maybe some Lembas bread, too
She bought her dream house about 6 months ago; it’s on an unpaved road (did I tell you there’s about 15 inches of snow up there right now, according to my cousin, who lives 20 minutes from Pat?) and oh, by the way, my car SUCKS in the snow. Be thinking good thoughts for me, k?
I packed up the car with clothes, necessaries (beer, toothpaste, clean undies), the fixins for a delicious (so I’m told) buffalo chicken dip (which, of course, me being me, I have to modify the recipe a bit…to include tofu cream cheese instead of regular, and adding some crumbled bleu cheese to the mix).
Her husband of 20 years is coming up later tomorrow, so maybe we’ll start the marathon tonight, as he’s not really an LOTR fan…altho I’m sure he appreciates the fallout (Pat has the wicked hots for Aragorn).
I also brought my pillow with me, as I an wont to do whenever I travel…it’s been to Hawaii, St. John, Paris…you name it, Pillow comes with.
