Life goes on…if we’re lucky!
The day after Max passed, I was incredibly sick. I woke up about 3 am, felt ok, drank some water and went back to sleep. Got up again about 630 and I kid you not, when i felt my clothes touch my skin, it hurt! I ached and shook and went to work anyway, where I … oh never mind, no one wants to read all that. Suffice to say, my fever broke that night and I felt better. The end.
Better days.
We had Dave’s grandsons on Saturday. I took the youngest with me to the hair salon … got my hair cut way shorter than it was and Ralphy got a haircut, too! He was so good in the chair. Afterwards we went home, got Wolf and took a walk in the woods, to the playground. Ralphy had a great time, Wolf not so much. We headed home after an hour or so and Dave and Isaiah arrived shortly thereafter. Dave got ready for his gig that night and I took the boys out to dinner at the 99. They both zonked out on the drive back to their house and … oh wait, this is boring too. Did you even get this far?
I started walking with Dave’s sister last week. She walks faster than me, a miracle. Got me back on track, so to speak.
And, um, here’s a picture:

Oh, and Dave got me an early birthday present…VERY early since my bday is in June…a new laptop…MacBook Pro. Love it!
what’s going on with you?

Man, I cannot believe it was in 1986 that the Celtics last won a championship! I was SO into basketball back then, too, but I was a Bulls fan (loved Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippin, Horace Grant). Course, I wasn’t unhappy when the Celts won, as long as it wasn’t against the Bulls. The game is on in the background tonight…I’m not vested in it, but it would be nice to have a Boston team win.
A political fund raiser called Dad yesterday. He was quite tired at the time but had picked up the phone anyway (I’d picked up the extension at the same time and listened in. Nosy much?). This woman was a piece of work!!! She said, “Hello Mr. Dad, how are you today.“, and then without so much as waiting for a response, launched into her request for money. First she mentioned how the liberals were going to burn the country down if they got in the White House [ok, I might have exaggerated a bit there] and said, “Please, Mr. Dad, can’t you contribute $65 to keep the liberals at bay?” Dad said, “I’ve been in the hospital, and I’m not feeling too well, but I’ll do what I can.” This PIECE OF WORK doesn’t hesitate, doesn’t say I’m sorry, doesn’t say I hope you feel better, but instead launches into her next spiel: “Well, Mr. Dad, perhaps you can contribute $55 then, did you know that Al Franken was endorsed at the Democratic Convention [drugs, sex & rock n roll will now infiltrate America] and the liberals are running wild?” Dad said, “I’ll do what I can.” Repeat again, more inflammatory statements, more political rhetoric and we get down to $25, whereupon I step in and politely ask her to STOP BADGERING HIM RIGHT NOW. The nerve!
Wolf and I took a long walk Saturday, and he was attacked by a gang of wild and bloodthirsty…ticks!!! I must’ve pulled 10 off him *shivers* sooooo gross!!! Thankfully none were attached.
My brother and I took Dad out for lunch today; we ended up at The Gloucester House, where Dad had the Fisherman’s Platter. That man can eat, I tell you what! He finished it all, except for the fries AND had dessert. So there we are in Gloucester, very picturesque, on the ocean…and I forgot my camera! GAH!

When I got back from Pat’s on Sunday, I was treated, in addition to thunder and lightning, some wild wind! I like to keep my bedroom window open a bit, and I could hear all the really big trees in the back yard; their branches were whipping back and forth. Something so calming about that sound.
I bought a new duvet cover (Wolf dug a hole in the last one, lil bastid) and I washed, dryed and put the comforter inside it. Oh, man, is it soft!!! It’s a brown paisley design, I’ll take a picture of it. Came with two shams, too. Nothing like sinking into bed with a good book.
Speaking of books, I finished Colleen Gleason’s newest one, Bleeding Dusk, this morning. Great book, there were a couple of big surprises; overall, I enjoyed it very much.
I’ve been having fun with my One Object-365 Days project over on flickr. My one object is one of my poppets, of course, the skeleton one LOL! I even took him to Pat’s this weekend, after forgetting him at work last weekend.
As for the weather, we’re expecting snow today at rush hour. I’m bummed out about that, as 1) I was looking forward to dinner with Michelle, and 2) I’m so sick of the snow and cold. I can’t wait til springtime; barring that, I’m taking a trip to Florida in March for a few days and I know that’ll warm me up.
That’s it!
Oh, I did want to thank Knittymuggins, aka Maryanne, so very much for the beautiful fingerless mitts she made and sent me (I badgered her incessantly!!!).

Aren’t they gorgeous?
She’s a talented knitter and a very nice person. She also sent me a cool button, not knowing I collect them, so I put it up in my car with the rest of my beloved buttons:

it’s the one with the knife!

I saw this at chaucerian girl’s blog, and as I left my name for her, I MUST participate. I MUST! So it is written. Here goes:
Leave your name in my blog comments. Once you do that, this is what I’ll do for you…
1. I’ll respond with something random about you.
2. I’ll tell you what song/movie reminds me of you.
3. I’ll pick a flavor of jello to wrestle you in.
4. I’ll say something that only makes sense to you and me. (if possible!)
5. I’ll tell you my first memory of you.
6. I’ll tell you what animal you remind me of.
7. I’ll ask you something I’ve always wondered about you.
8. If you do this you MUST post this on yours. You MUST. It is written.
Also be sure to come BACK and check out what I wrote in response for you!
And here’s a picture for you of a yummy piece of coconut cake one of the women at work brought in yesterday…she’s trying to sabotage the weigh in (4…count ‘em…FOUR sticks of butter in the frosting alone!) but that’s ok…I only had one bite … delish!

Enjoy!
