I was tagged by Sara and I found the questions interesting

1. What would your perfect day consist of? A picnic in a field of grass by the ocean … with the suggestion of a breeze and temps of about 70.
2. How would you describe yourself if you were an item of clothing? I’m that old favorite pair of jeans in your closet…with a few meaningful patches, soft and torn in spots, but oh so comfortable.
3. What hobbies are you currently working on? Photography, always.
4. Walking in the woods in wellies or barefoot on the beach? I’ll have to go with barefoot on the beach…I adore the ocean! Altho…recently, I had a lovely hike in the woods with Dave…
5. Have you ever hugged or sang to a tree? Not that I can remember, but back in the 70s it’s a distinct possibility! Right, Pat?
6. Growing your own veggies or nipping to the supermarket? I wish I could grow my own, but I don’t have that much room on my balcony! I do grow cherry tomatoes, jalapenos and some herbs. And I tend to nip into a farm stand in growing season!
7. Have you found anyone exciting in your family tree? There’s someone famous…I can’t remember who, my cousin can tell you!
8. Slap up meal in a posh restaurant or fish ‘n’ chips from the wrapper? Posh restaurant, please; or better yet, a home cooked meal!
9. Which element do you most resonate with Earth, Wind, Fire or Water? Water, but Fire plays a close second.
10. Do you believe in fairies? I do…walk in the woods enough and you will, too!
I’m supposed to pass this on…so anyone who’d like to do it, feel free!

Borrowed from Dawn
Outside my window… birds are flying by.
I am thinking… I should hop in the shower and get ready for work.
I am thankful for… having such a kind, caring man in my life.
From the kitchen… my cup of coffee brewed and smells heavenly (Southern Pecan flavor from Green Mountain Coffee).
I am wearing… a celery colored t-shirt and capri sweats
I am creating… an amazing life for myself.
I am going… back to the Cape in August for a long weekend and to see a concert (Dr. John).
I am reading… a book about Patti Smith and Robert Mapplethorpe, “Just Kids”.
I am hoping… my cousin’s eye surgery goes well today.
I am hearing… birds chirping, a plane high up in the sky, the keys of my laptop.
Around the house… there’s a lot of shiba fur right now! I should be vacuuming instead of writing this LOL!
One of my favorite things… is a spur of the moment plan.
I don’t understand… why people thrive on drama. It just drains me!
I wish… happiness and contentment for you all.
A few plans for the rest of the week… doctor appointment today, maybe doing something with Dave tonight, watching True Blood Wednesday, seeing friends on the weekend and watching Dave’s band play Saturday? No firm plans, really, other than the band thing…I like it that way!
A picture to share…

I’m using some of my pictures as background for my favorite poem…once I get it right, I’ll print them, frame them and hang it over my bed.

Today’s prompt NaBloPoMo, Do you like the name you were given? Is there a name that you think would suit you better? is basically the same as this one last month: How do you feel about the name given to you at birth?. So rather than bore you with the same answer, I’ll tell you a little story about last night.
Wednesday nights are more fun than ever lately. It’s the night Dave practices with his band. But…he comes over for about an hour or so just to hang out, talk, kiss, walk the dogs with me or what have you. It’s nice, knowing it’s a limited amount of time, cause it makes us enjoy every minute, know what I mean?
Afterwards, I walked downstairs with him, we kissed goodbye and I headed to Barnes & Noble where I finally downloaded an update to my Nook (can do it anywhere, but it gave me an excuse to get a peppermint tea and people watch). Then I got my first pedicure of the summer. Yes, my toes have been nekkid thus far, a first for me! They’re now painted an orange sparkle that looks great with my tan. After that I headed to Trader Joe’s and got some almonds and dried blueberries (gonna put those in my yogurt, see how it tastes).
When I got home, I flung open the windows with joy! It finally cooled off enough to turn off the damn AC (hot flashes=necessary AC) and I was happy not to have that noise anymore. Instead, I listened to the night noises and pretty soon, rain. When it started to storm…the lightning was intense and instead of bolts, it was sheets and VERY BRIGHT! I stayed up later than I meant to just laying in bed watching. Amazing, the force of nature.
I’m reading Nevada Barr’s 13 1/2…what’re you reading?

Took this shot recently on a whale watch tour I took with my Australian friend Julie. It makes Boston look like Oz, in my opinion!

Starfish
This is what life does. It lets you walk up to
the store to buy breakfast and the paper, on a
stiff knee. It lets you choose the way you have
your eggs, your coffee. Then it sits a fisherman
down beside you at the counter who says, Last night
the channel was full of starfish. And you wonder,
is this a message, finally, or just another day?
Life lets you take the dog for a walk down to the
pond, where whole generations of biological
processes are boiling beneath the mud. Reeds
speak to you of the natural world: they whisper,
they sing. And herons pass by. Are you old
enough to appreciate the moment? Too old?
There is movement beneath the water, but it
may be nothing. There may be nothing going on.
And then life suggests that you remember the
years you ran around, the years you developed
a shocking lifestyle, advocated careless abandon,
owned a chilly heart. Upon reflection, you are
genuinely surprised to find how quiet you have
become. And then life lets you go home to think
about all this. Which you do, for quite a long time.
Later, you wake up beside your old love, the one
who never had any conditions, the one who waited
you out. This is life’s way of letting you know that
you are lucky. (It won’t give you smart or brave,
so you’ll have to settle for lucky.) Because you
stopped when you should have started again.
So life lets you have a sandwich, and pie for your
late night dessert. (Pie for the dog, as well.) And
then life sends you back to bed, to dreamland,
while outside, the starfish drift through the channel,
with smiles on their starry faces as they head
out to deep water, to the far and boundless sea.
-Eleanor Lerman
I saw this poem on a friend’s blog and fell in absolute love with it. So many phrases resonated with me…and I did have a chilly heart, until recently. I AM lucky to have found my old love, to enjoy a sandwich and dessert, too (and with my dogs) and dream of starfish. Life is filled with wonder and magic!
