Blueberries…or doggie crack? You decide!
Just another Manic Monday!
Were you considered popular in high school? Why or why not? I don’t know…considered by whom? I had good friends, both male and female.
How old are you in your dreams? You know…I’m kind of ageless in my dreams…neither old nor young, just…me.
Did you ever run away from home? Why or why not? Yup, when I was 14 or so…my mother, to her dying day, wanted to know where I stayed and she was never told…better that way, cause it wasn’t a good scene.

I read on my cousin Erica’s Facebook post that Jordon’s Furniture in Avon has restored most of the original Jordan Marsh Enchanted Village! I remember my grandmother taking me to see this and I’m excited to be able to see it again! Since Ikea is in that area too, I think I’ll kill two birds with one stone after my visit to Mass General to get my stitches removed tomorrow. Then…most likely, it’ll be back to work, FINALLY!!!
One of my photos was on Flickr’s Most Interesting yesterday; it’s the 4th one down.
Last night, I invited some folks over for dinner and Apples to Apples, cause I absolutely could not stand being alone one more minute!
For appetizers (and munchies while playing Apples to Apples) I had 3 types of cheese (goat w/herbs, brie & Yorkshire Wesleydale with cranberries), 2 types of crackers (Special K Italian Tomato & Herb, which wasn’t so good with the Wesleydale and Blue Diamond Almond Nut-Thins, which were. The Special K crackers are a recent discovery for me; Megan brought some over when she stayed with me after the surgery and th ey are delish! We also had Boar’s Head smoked Italian sausage, some walnuts, dry roasted nuts, sourdough pretzels and my cousin’s Heavenly Jam, which was particularly good smeared on the pretzels!
I made a turkey breast, massaged with butter and sprinkled with chipotle all purpose seasoning (fast becoming my favorite spice mix); mashed potatoes with sour cream, butter, milk, S&P; maple glazed carrots; cornbread stuffing with onions and celery; turkey gravy; cranberry sauce (from the can…YUM!) and pumpkin pie for dessert.
Today, Wolf told me he was bored of being in the house, so we went off to Carlisle, MA, to Great Brook Park and had a nice long walk (and in his case, lots of sniffing). We even had to wade across a stream at one point! Here’s Wolf, being adorable:

How was your weekend?

Today I spent the day with my amazing cousin, Maribeth, her hubby, their dogs and new puppies…and my not so amazing shiba inu.
I took Wolf with me, since he’s been acting weird since being kenneled last weekend. I left him in the car in the cool garage while the 3 humans ate lunch…a very delicious eggplant parmesan with a glass of wine…yum! Afterward, Maribeth and I decided to go to the craft fair downtown, and we brought Wolf with us. She bought some hot pepper jelly and I bought dog treats. Everyone and their mother commented on Wolf…”Oh, he’s so cute!”, “Can I pet him?”, “What kind of dog is that?”, just the typical things folks say when I bring Wolf out in public. He handled it well, in that he ignored most of the people and pretended, I think, he was king of all he surveyed. Oh wait…yeah, he doesn’t have to pretend that.
On the way back to Maribeth’s, Wolf started acting weird…wouldn’t drink, wouldn’t eat, tore up the magazines Megan gave me last night and made a nest in the car…think I’m joking, right? I wish…he also shed hair over every possible surface in the car. Then I had to fight him to get him back in the crate. I offered him lobster…no I don’t want it, he emphatically made it known.

So after a lovely lobster, baked potato and corn on the cob dinner, I had to leave and take my pain in the ass lovely shiba inu home.
The second I pulled into the driveway, got out of the car and opened his crate, he decided it was time to eat one of the crack biscuits I left for him in the car and then immediately wanted to be fed as soon as we got in the door. Then he did the Shiba 500 around the house, played with a couple toys and is snoring peacefully on the couch.
No shiba shots…but here is a dackel puppy shot:

mmmm, you’re delicious, nom nom nom!
Shibas are weird…

I rarely ever post on Sundays…but I had to share this!

Man, I cannot believe it was in 1986 that the Celtics last won a championship! I was SO into basketball back then, too, but I was a Bulls fan (loved Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippin, Horace Grant). Course, I wasn’t unhappy when the Celts won, as long as it wasn’t against the Bulls. The game is on in the background tonight…I’m not vested in it, but it would be nice to have a Boston team win.
A political fund raiser called Dad yesterday. He was quite tired at the time but had picked up the phone anyway (I’d picked up the extension at the same time and listened in. Nosy much?). This woman was a piece of work!!! She said, “Hello Mr. Dad, how are you today.“, and then without so much as waiting for a response, launched into her request for money. First she mentioned how the liberals were going to burn the country down if they got in the White House [ok, I might have exaggerated a bit there] and said, “Please, Mr. Dad, can’t you contribute $65 to keep the liberals at bay?” Dad said, “I’ve been in the hospital, and I’m not feeling too well, but I’ll do what I can.” This PIECE OF WORK doesn’t hesitate, doesn’t say I’m sorry, doesn’t say I hope you feel better, but instead launches into her next spiel: “Well, Mr. Dad, perhaps you can contribute $55 then, did you know that Al Franken was endorsed at the Democratic Convention [drugs, sex & rock n roll will now infiltrate America] and the liberals are running wild?” Dad said, “I’ll do what I can.” Repeat again, more inflammatory statements, more political rhetoric and we get down to $25, whereupon I step in and politely ask her to STOP BADGERING HIM RIGHT NOW. The nerve!
Wolf and I took a long walk Saturday, and he was attacked by a gang of wild and bloodthirsty…ticks!!! I must’ve pulled 10 off him *shivers* sooooo gross!!! Thankfully none were attached.
My brother and I took Dad out for lunch today; we ended up at The Gloucester House, where Dad had the Fisherman’s Platter. That man can eat, I tell you what! He finished it all, except for the fries AND had dessert. So there we are in Gloucester, very picturesque, on the ocean…and I forgot my camera! GAH!
