Goodbye 2012
In the past, I kept MUCH better notes of books I’d read, movies I’d seen, places I’d gone. This year? I kind of just lived in the moment with no regard for record keeping. I do/did like looking back to see where I’ve been…and perhaps in 2013 I’ll start that again. But it was a bit freeing to just do, just be!
Anyway, I had a great Christmas! Dave’s daughter and her two sons, Dave’s son, his wife and their son, and Dave’s youngest son’s daughter came over for the day. It was fun and we nibbled on delicious things Dave kept putting on the table. Before they got there, Dave and I opened gifts. He had bought me tires for my SUV so he got me little things, but those things were things he knew I’d wanted…a hand blender, for example, and things that he knew me well enough to know I’d like: a popcorn maker, a robe. And he filled my stocking to the brim with candy and oranges and little things! I got him a food saver system (since we’re forever asking each other, what is that in the freezer), some balt salts, aftershave and some Civil War stamps.
We also donated a bunch of stuff to my parents’ church and I finally found a use there for the egg cartons I’d saved up LOL!
Went to see The Hobbit last week, and also Les Misérables with my friend Karen, her husband Mark and their friends MaryAnn and Tom and had dinner at the Olive Garden afterwards. It was a fun time, Dave told some interesting stories about adventures in the past which were a bit eye-opening to our friends.
The good:
My cousin, Maribeth, became a grandmother this year and boy was she over the moon about it! Beautiful Savannah Rose is sure keeping a twinkle in her Grandmother’s eye.
Dave’s daughter found a man who seems to cherish her…she seems happy! I’m happy for her!
Had a great time with friends and family down the Cape this year. I think it was the last time we’ll rent a house there, but Dave & I will go down from time to time, just us. Next year, we’ll vacation with the kids up in the woods of NH.
Spent my birthday in Jamestown with Maureen & Kim and had a wonderful time, visiting Amish country, Lilydale (had an amazing past life reading) and just spending time with friends.
And one other thing that isn’t my story to tell, but that makes me quite happy and that I pray has a happy ending in the long run!
The bad:
My sweet Max passed away in March…I hope that he had as happy as life as possible, and I know he’s happy with Mom & Dad and everyone else who passed before him.
My knee is acting up more and more and the cortisone shots and Euflexxa isn’t really helping. I’m sure there’ll be more on this in 2013!
The weight I lost crept back on…but I have noticed something. I seem to start doing well in April, and into June, then the rest of the year it falls apart. If I can keep that in my head, perhaps this year I will break the pattern and do well the entire year. Plus I had a scare with heartburn (which I’ve never had before) and do NOT want to repeat that! So…2 pounds down since last week’s weigh-in and hey, it’s even during the holidays, so…good luck to me!
And that’s about it, so only two bad things, I’ll take it!
I wish each and every one of you the happiest, healthiest and most loving 2013!
