I’ve been sick the last couple days (flu/cold, take your pick) and so my email has accumulated. I was tackling it today and saw one that said: “48 Nine West clearance styles”. I have NO idea if Nine West is cool or not anymore, but I clicked on it. Therein, I saw this:

I tilted my head this way and that, trying to figure out just what in the hell this was! At the price, I thought…shoes that torture your feet? A box of some sort, some weird vase? No…they are bangles…wooden bangles for just shy of $250.00.
W…T…H…??? Am I that out of it? Would YOU wear something like this? Are these just a joke on women? It looks like those torture blocks they used back in the pirate days, to close over your neck and hands and put you on display.
Strange days indeed…

We had a wonderful weekend! Friday night we headed to the beach for some full moon viewing and pizza. Unfortunately it took a good 40 minutes for the pizza, so we missed the moonrise. Dave did take a cool shot of me on the beach, though!
Saturday, Dave picked up Ralphy and we headed to my friend Aislinn’s for a fun day. Ralphy rode in two battery powered cars most of the day…he didn’t even want to swim!
After our lunch of lobsters and potatoes, we walked down to the beach having heard of a shark sighting, but we didn’t see one. Three towns away, however, a dead great white shark washed up on the beach! Yikes!!! You can read about it here. The authorities aren’t sure what the cause of death was.
Sunday we headed up to the White Mountains and checked out the Lancaster Fair. Beautiful draft horses, delicious apple crisp and some decent BBQ!
Monday, we took it easy and stayed close to home. Had a nice walk at Great Brook Park; in the cool woods on a sunny day is heavenly. When I first got Max, I used to take him here all the time and so, while there, I felt I was finally ready to scatter his ashes. I did so by the pond, on his favorite trail, on the stump where he loved to poop (what! he did!) and finally by his favorite place to leap.

Godspeed, my Maxie!
When I got home, I decided to take pictures of some of Dave’s artwork. Here’s one:

How was your long weekend?

From my Grandmother’s diary (she was 19 when she wrote it):

“Getting ready to go home. Went to Freeport with George. Got some ice cream and maraschino cherries which we brought to the Silver Wave and had a spread.”
Wonder what the Silver Wave was? In Maine, maybe, since she went to Freeport? Anyone?
*Edited: I think it’s Freeport, NY. High Hill Beach used to be there and that’s mentioned in an earlier entry.
Yup:

I went in to give Max a piece of leftover steak this morning…touched his head, no movement. Called his name. Nothing. Louder. Nothing. Touched him harder. Nothing. OMG! He’s dead!!! MAX! I said loudly! Then he raised his head. Phew! Going a bit deaf, I think or just a VERY heavy sleeper in his old age (he’ll be 15 in April).

This was Max in his much younger days…I think he was about a year old in this shot.
